Losing weight is a struggle. But as difficult as it is, it’s not impossible. I should know, I lost 100 pounds in one year on my own at 14. I did it naturally, through hard work and an entire year of consistency.
I’ve kept it off since (18 years and counting) and still count my weight loss transformation as my most life changing experience. That’s because my weight loss allowed me to live the life I wanted to live and be the person I wanted to be.
Not feeling healthy or confident in your own body can hold you back from reaching your full potential. If you’re struggling to lose weight and need some motivation, read below for how losing weight will change your life.
Once you understand the powerful and positive ways your life will change, you won’t want to waste a minute longer not working towards your weight loss goal.
You’ll Be Healthier

Okay, obviously a no-brainer. When you are eating right and working out consistently, your overall health improves. Yes, you already know it will reduce your risk of disease and all that other bad stuff but what you might not know is just how good health feels.
If you were like me and had never been healthy before, it’s going to feel like a completely different world for you. Things that were hard for you to do before like jogging, walking for extended periods, or even getting up and down off the floor will become easier.
You’ll likely find that you enjoy being active and will have more energy. Plus, there’s that spiritual feeling and satisfaction you feel after doing regular workouts and eating healthy, nutritious meals that’s hard to explain until you know.
Being healthy is your natural state of being. Being at optimal health allows you to be your optimal self. Trust me, health is worth so much more than looking good, even if looking good is your primary objective.
You’ll Explore More Interests

When you’re thinner, healthier, and more physically able to do more activities, you’ll be more willing to try things you never would have considered before. For example, I never knew I would like running when I was heavier.
Actually, I hated running. However, as I lost more weight and got better at it, I started to love it. So much so that I would begin running 5ks, 10ks, and then a marathon. I never imagined myself running races, let alone a marathon.
But losing weight gave me the confidence and ability to explore different activities I never would have known would bring me so much joy. I also explored dance, spin classes, hiking, boxing, and so much more.
I can’t imagine my life now without doing some of these activities as they bring me so much happiness, clarity, and health.
Don’t be surprised to find that once you lose weight, you’ll begin doing and enjoying things you never thought you’d like before.
You’ll Be More Confident

Also a no-brainer, losing weight will make you feel more confident. You’ll feel more confident for the obvious reasons: you’ll be thinner, look better in clothing, won’t feel like the odd one out or the “fat girl” in the group.
Looks are important and losing weight can most definitely make you look better. However, the other kind of confidence you’ll gain from losing weight is so much more powerful.
Weight loss is a personal obstacle you must overcome on your own. It is just you and your willpower that is to take credit for your awesome victory.
There is power in realizing not only that you can do hard things and come out the victor, but that you are in control of your destiny.
Getting healthy and losing weight is taking charge of your health, body, and the course of your life. You’ll find confidence in knowing that you are the creator of your fate and with that knowledge, you can do anything.
You’ll Have a Better Quality of Life

Beyond the numbers on the scale, losing weight opens doors to a world of possibilities and experiences that were once out of reach.
Whether it’s participating in outdoor activities, fitting into your favorite clothes, or simply enjoying improved mobility and flexibility, every aspect of your life is enriched by your newfound health and vitality.
Moreover, as you prioritize your well-being, you inspire those around you to embark on their own journeys towards a healthier, happier life. You’ll invite new people, new experiences, and new opportunities into your life.
You’ll Become a New Person, Living a New Life

Losing weight changes who you are both on the outside and inside. No, I don’t mean that you will suddenly become a good person or bad person once you lose weight. I also don’t mean to say that your life is or was particularly awful before you lost weight.
But weight loss requires you to adopt a new mindset that will inevitably change who you are. You will adopt habits that take discipline and work. You’ll determine what environmental factors are benefiting or working against your goals.
In most cases, any environmental factors (friends, family, workplace) that keep you from living a healthy life, are likely not positive influences in general. When you change your environment you will not only lose weight, but likely improve in other areas of your life as well.
