Counting macros could help you lose weight faster if you stick to it consistently. Following any kind of diet or weight loss plan recommended by experts will generally lead to positive results, if you follow the plan consistently.
Will counting macros help you lose weight fast? Well, that depends on what your idea of fast means. Most weight loss programs aim to help you lose 1-2 pounds per week.
However, how quickly you lose weight will depend on your starting weight (generally the heavier you are the quicker you lose weight at first), how many calories you’re consuming, and how many calories you are burning daily.
Weight Loss Without Counting Macros
There are many methods for losing weight, counting macros is only one of them. Personally, I didn’t count macros when I was losing 100 pounds. I didn’t even count calories, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t aware of them.
What I did do was take an honest look at my diet and recognize all the unhealthy choices I was making. Instead of mindlessly shoving everything in my mouth, I made a conscious effort to choose healthier options.
I also paid more attention to food labels, something I’d never done before. Instead of grabbing a bag of potato chips and munching on half the bag until I was oversaturated with salt and fat, I measured out the recommended portion size.
Looking at normal portion sizes made me realize just how much I was overeating before. It helped me understand what normal portion size should look like.
