If you’ve ever Googled “How do I lose 10 pounds fast?” or “Can I lose 10 pounds in one month?” you’re in the right place.

I get this question constantly on YouTube and social media.

The short answer?

Yes, it’s possible for many people to lose 10 pounds in a month.

Lose 10 pounds in one month guide

Step 1: Make Weight Loss Your Main Priority

If you’re serious about losing 10 pounds this month, this can’t be something you squeeze into your life.

It has to become your focus.

Choose a month where you don’t have constant parties, vacations, birthdays, or nights out planned.

Tell your friends ahead of time:

“I’m locking in this month.”

Maybe you won’t be at every dinner.

Maybe you’ll skip drinks after work.

That’s okay.

It’s one month.

If losing 10 pounds is your goal, then your daily decisions need to reflect that.

Step 2: Track Everything

I don’t rely on motivation.

I rely on tracking.

Before you start, record:

  • Your weight
  • Your measurements
  • Before photos

Then track your:

  • Calories
  • Workouts
  • Steps
  • Meals
  • Progress

Personally, I love journals and printable challenge trackers because checking off each successful day keeps me accountable.

Step 3: Exercise Every Day

For this month, movement becomes non-negotiable.

Aim for at least one hour every day.

That could be:

  • Walking
  • Weight lifting
  • Pilates
  • Cardio
  • Cycling
  • Elliptical

Whatever you’ll actually stick with.

This is your challenge month.

Treat it like one.

Step 4: Walk Even More

Even after your workout ends…

…keep moving.

Walking burns calories without completely exhausting you.

It also keeps you busy, keeps your metabolism active, and honestly keeps your mind off food.

Take the stairs.

Park farther away.

Walk after dinner.

Every step counts.

Step 5: Stay in a Calorie Deficit

Here’s the truth.

You cannot out-exercise your diet.

If you aren’t in a calorie deficit, you won’t lose weight.

For many people, starting with about a 500-calorie daily deficit is a reasonable place to begin.

As you get leaner or closer to your goal weight, you may need to make small adjustments because those last few pounds are usually the hardest to lose.

Step 6: Eat High-Volume Foods

Dieting is a lot easier when you aren’t starving.

That’s why I build my meals around foods like:

  • Chicken
  • Fish
  • Vegetables
  • Fruit
  • Greek yogurt
  • Greens

These foods help keep you full while naturally being lower in calories.

The fuller you feel, the easier it is to stick to your calorie deficit.

Step 7: Eat the Same Meals

This is one of my biggest tips.

Stop trying to make every meal exciting.

Meal prep.

Cook in bulk.

Know exactly what you’re eating before you’re hungry.

Decision fatigue leads to bad decisions.

When healthy food is already waiting in your refrigerator, you’re much less likely to grab takeout because you’re tired.

Step 8: Sleep More and Skip the Alcohol

Sleep affects everything.

When you’re exhausted:

  • You crave junk food.
  • You skip workouts.
  • You lose discipline.

And alcohol?

It adds calories, disrupts sleep, lowers your inhibitions, and makes it much easier to say yes to foods you planned to avoid.

For one month…

Skip it.

Step 9: This Is Not the Month for Cheat Days

Normally, I’m not someone who says you have to be perfect.

But if you’re trying to lose 10 pounds in one month, you’re working against a deadline.

This is crunch time.

That doesn’t mean one mistake ruins everything.

If you overeat…

Own it.

Move on.

Get right back to your meal plan at your very next meal.

One bad day doesn’t ruin your progress.

Quitting does.

Step 10: Stay Hydrated

One of the easiest ways I stay on track is by always having drinks nearby.

My favorites include:

  • Water
  • Coffee
  • Tea
  • Electrolytes
  • Sparkling water

Sometimes what feels like hunger is really boredom, habit, or dehydration.

Having something to sip on makes sticking to your calorie deficit much easier.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should You Weigh Yourself Every Day?

Personally, I do.

Seeing the scale keeps me motivated.

Just remember that your weight can fluctuate several pounds from water, sodium, hormones, and digestion.

That’s why I also recommend taking progress pictures and measurements. They often tell the full story better than the scale alone.

Can You Eat Carbs or Sugar?

Yes.

You can eat whatever you want as long as you’re in a calorie deficit.

That doesn’t mean pizza or ice cream are the most filling choices—but you don’t have to completely eliminate your favorite foods to lose weight.

Calories still matter most.

What If You Feel Faint or Completely Exhausted?

If you feel dizzy, faint, or like you’re going to pass out, eat more and reassess your plan.

A successful month isn’t about starving yourself.

It’s about eating enough to stay consistent while maintaining a calorie deficit.

And if you’re simply exhausted or sore from training?

Take a lighter day or a rest day.

Recover, then get back to work.

Sample Day for Losing 10 Pounds in a Month

Here’s a simple framework:

  • Morning workout (cardio plus light strength training)
  • High-protein breakfast
  • Fruit or Greek yogurt for a snack
  • Lean protein, vegetables, and a complex carbohydrate for lunch
  • Protein snack
  • Lean protein, vegetables, and a complex carbohydrate for dinner
  • A walk later in the day to increase your daily steps

Simple.

Repeatable.

Effective.
