It’s easy to start healthy habits, but the challenge is in keeping up with them. I should know.

I lost 100 pounds in one year at 14 and have kept it off for 18 years. Now, I write weight loss advice for women who want to transform their bodies and their lives.

For all the women out there who are trying to stay on track, this blog post is for you. I’m going to share five tips that will help you stick to your new healthy habits, so that you can finally reach your goals.

These are techniques and tips I’ve learned from personal experience and years of practice. So let’s dive in.

  1. 1. Make It a Part of Your Routine
  2. 2. Hold Yourself Accountable
    1. Find Accountability in Social Media
  3. 3. Focus on Progress Not Results
  4. 4. Plan for Slip-Ups
  5. 5. Switch It Up
  6. Don’t Stop, Get It!

1. Make It a Part of Your Routine

One of my best weight loss advice for women tips is to plan for success by incorporating your new healthy habits into your daily routine. Schedule it like you would any other important task that you must complete on a daily basis.

For example, if you want to start working out, schedule your exercise time at the same time every day. This makes it less likely that you’ll forget or skip it altogether.

Plus, the more you repeat an activity, the more it becomes a natural part of your routine.

Make your new healthy habits a priority, something you can’t skip out on, like brushing your teeth. Only when you make your health goals a priority is when you will be successful.

2. Hold Yourself Accountable

Having someone to hold you accountable can be a game-changer when it comes to sticking to your new healthy habits. My next best weight loss advice for women tip is to find a friend or family member who has similar goals and start doing the activity together.

You can check in with each other, encourage one another, and even make it a fun competition. Having that extra motivation can make all the difference.

When you feel like reverting to your old habits, you’ll be reminded of your friend who’s in this with you. Reverting to your old habits would not only be a disappointment to yourself, but to them as well.

Find Accountability in Social Media

If you don’t have a friend willing to be your accountability partner, look online. Consider reaching out to your social media following to let them know about your new healthy goals.

Document your journey and connect with others who are on a similar path as you. Having more eyes on you and your journey can be more motivating than if you were going at it alone.

Plus, your health journey may inspire others to start their own journey as well!

3. Focus on Progress Not Results

Another important weight loss advice for women tip I stand by is having health goals beyond the physical results.

It’s easy to get discouraged if you don’t see immediate results. That’s why it’s important to focus on your progress and celebrate small victories along the way.

Focus on making progress and getting better, regardless of whether you are seeing results yet.

Maybe you want to work up to running longer distances or lift more weight in the gym. Working towards these goals gives you something to focus on that is more in your control.

As you progress in these goals, make sure to celebrate these small victories.

For example, maybe you were able to increase your workout time or have been eating more protein with every meal. Whatever it is, acknowledge and celebrate it.

It’ll boost your confidence and make you more motivated to continue.

4. Plan for Slip-Ups

Nobody is perfect, and slip-ups are bound to happen. The key is to plan for them ahead of time.

For example, if you’re trying to eat healthier, have a plan for when you get a craving for something unhealthy. Maybe you can keep healthier snacks on hand or allow yourself a small treat once a week.

If you do slip-up on your diet, don’t stress over it. Accept that you messed up and resolve to do better the next day. End of story.

Stressing over your mistake will only make you feel worse and could lead to another slip-up. Besides, you can always work out a little harder the next day to burn off those extra calories.

If it’s a workout you missed, make up for it by eating even better and being extra careful with what you eat the next day. Slip-ups will happen, but they can always be remedied.

By planning ahead, you won’t feel as guilty for slip-ups and are less likely to give up altogether.

5. Switch It Up

Finally, my last weight loss advice tip for women who are sticking to healthy habits is to switch things up.

Doing the same thing day in and day out gets old. When your routine starts to lose its luster, you won’t be as motivated to stick to it. When this happens, switch things up.

Start a new workout routine, sign up for a new fitness class, or try a new healthy recipe. Changing things up will give you something different to look forward to, so you’ll be less likely to give up.

You could even consider buying a new workout outfit, a new kitchen accessory for cooking healthy foods, or participating in a group fitness challenge. Do whatever gets you out of your rut and helps you stay on track.

Don’t Stop, Get It!

Sticking to healthy habits is no easy feat, but it’s definitely worth it, trust me. By incorporating these five tips into your routine, you’ll find that it becomes easier and more manageable.

Remember to make these things part of your routine, hold yourself accountable, focus on progress, plan for slip-ups, and switch things up.

With these weight loss advice for women tips in mind, get out there and get it! Your future self will thank you.
